Aloha from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! This deluxe resort is not only beautiful, but also perfectly themed to make you feel as though you are in an island paradise. Not only that, but its location to the original WDW park, Magic Kingdom, makes this resort a great option for families. The resort is inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Islands and Polynesia while also incorporating Disney storytelling and lovable characters that we know and adore.
So is this resort the right option for your family during your next Walt Disney World stay? Let’s dive in and find out!

Resort Theme
This beautiful resort is a great example of celebrating the spirit of the South Pacific. Showing true homage to the culture of the Islands you will see rooms recently refurbished and now inspired by Moana with subtle nods to characters and magical Disney moments. Kids (and Disney adults) will love the new Moana splash area that just opened and also getting to dine with Lilo and Stitch for breakfast (more on that below) as well as food that reflects the islands.
Room Types
When choosing a room type at Disney’s Polynesian Resort you have many options because it is both a regular resort and a DVC property that also occasionally has studios and over water bungalows available for larger parties.
Two Queen Room - With multiple options for room views - sleeps five adults
There are three options to choose from: resort view, water view, or theme park view. Each comes with standard two queen beds and a day bed. These offer you the subtle theming of Moana and are truly beautiful in design. One of my favorite things about these rooms is that most of these options include a patio or balcony. Request first floor for a patio or third floor or above for a balcony.
Rooms & Suites with Club Level Service - sleeps two, five adults or 8 adults
Club level is a great service with access to a club-level lounge serving refreshments 7am-10pm daily. This can eliminate the stress of paying for food all day and feels more all-inclusive. If you want to have more resort time versus park heavy, this is an excellent choice.
Choose from a Theme Park View, Water View, Resort or a One Bedroom Suite. These rooms sleep five adults and have Two Queen Beds and a Day Bed.
These rooms are also a bit larger with options that can sleep up to 8 adults. These are beautiful suites that offer you a king bed, two queens and one queen size sleeper sofa. The Ambassador VP Suite offers views of the gardens, with an additional living room area.
The King Kamehameha Suite gives your favorite princess the view of her dreams of Cinderella Castle and the Marina. This suite sleeps 8 adults.
The Honeymoon Room is a great spot to spend with your love. With subtle touches of the island theme, this room has one king bed and is perfect for your magical honeymoon. This room sleeps 2 adults.
DVC - Deluxe Studios - Sleeps five
With a preferred view or resort view and subtle themes of the islands, this room is a comfortable size. Room accommodations include One Queen, One Queen Size Pull Down and One Single Bed. Plus, the best features in my opinion are two showers and a Kitchenette.
DVC - Bungalow - Sleeps eight adults
Want to be on the water? Interested in a luxurious tropical getaway in the heart of the magic? There’s a room type for that! The Polynesian has gorgeous Bungalows that sit on the water with a private deck and plunge pool. Imagine being in the plunge pool watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks... it's hard not to be spoiled by these incredible rooms. This option has one King Bed, one Queen Bed, one Queen pull down bed and two single pull down beds. With a full kitchen, living room, dining room, and two full bathrooms... this is the perfect place for your larger family (or group of friends) to stay.

Resort Facts: Dining Options, Pools, Transportation
Dining
Now that we’ve covered room types let’s talk about something that everyone loves, FOOD! One of my favorite things about this resort is the many options for food here. Eat at one of the two table service restaurants;
Ohana (where you can meet Stitch, Lilo, Mickey and Pluto for breakfast)
Kona Cafe - Dine on continental cuisine with an Asian flair, featuring an open kitchen.
Want something quick? Good news, they have some great options here!
Capt. Cook’s. - discover a bounty of classic South Seas inspired food from breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Pineapple Lanai - Did you know that you can get DOLE WHIP outside of the parks? That’s right! Pay homage to the pineapple and get a sweet treat over at Pineapple Lanai.
Kona Island - a place where you can enjoy coffee beverages and pastries in the morning and sushi rolls and miniature desserts at night.
Bars and Lounges:
The fun doesn’t stop there, with 3 bars/lounges this resort is something to experience.
Trader Sam’s Gro Grotto is such an immersive lounge with fun entertainment and an enchanting collection of nautical treasures, mystical totems and volcanic vistas that you will want to stay all night.
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is an open air lounge where you can listen to live music and sip tropical drinks.
Tambu Lounge is a great late night bar service with tropical drinks and Hawaiian inspired pupus.
Oasis Bar & Grill is a great poolside retreat with tropical cocktails, wines and beer.
Pools
Ready for fun in the sun? With four pools and poolside activities you’ll never be bored!
Lava Pool is a towering volcano pool with a 142 foot long waterslide, It has a zero entry point, similar to a beach making it a gentle entry and exit. This is considered the Main Pool and has a lounge and bar refreshments near by.
Cove Pool is the Island Tower’s zero entry pool that offers great relaxation. Near that is the new Moana’s Voyage splash area where you can see a life size sculpture of Moana on her Canoe.
For more of a tranquility experience, head to the Oasis Pool. This is a Leisure pool that is near a lush garden making it the perfect place to relax.

Transportation
The Polynesian is in a great location where you get several different options for your transportation to the parks.
The Polynesian is located on the Monorail Loop that takes you to both Magic Kingdom & Epcot. Guests may also choose to take a water taxi to Magic Kingdom. Additionally, a walking path can be used to get to MK, although it is further than the other resorts located next to Magic Kingdom.
If you are wanting to head to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, water parks, or Disney Springs, your complimentary bus will take you there!

Resort Amenities
When you are trying to decide where to stay during your next Walt Disney Vacation, it’s important to think about what other amenities you would like for your family, Disney’s Polynesian Resort has a wide range of activities for you to enjoy such as:
Roasting marshmallows by the campfire;
Movies Under the Stars, located on the Great Ceremonial House Lawn 7:30pm Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday;
Motorized Boat Rentals;
Fishing;
Volleyball;
Jogging Trail; and
Electrical Water Pageant Viewing.
This would be the ideal resort for you if
You are honeymooning at Disney and want something quiet, yet still in the heart of Disney. If you are a large family traveling together, this resort is a great option with many room types fitting your family's needs. I also think its a great option for families with young children who still take naps. With the close proximity to both Epcot and Magic Kingdom, mid day breaks just got a whole lot easier.

Check out why Kayla Read , one of our AMAAB Travel Advisors, loves Disney’s Polynesian resort
"My family loves this resort for the food, location, and never-ending fun! We usually try to have at least one sit down meal on a trip and I have to convince them to try something new because they always want to eat breakfast with Stitch at Ohana. I mean... who can blame them?! That pineapple bread and pineapple ham has my mouth watering even now as I type, haha! As a special needs family it’s important for us to stay somewhere where there are calm areas and the ability to go back to the resort easily. Close proximity makes it much easier to help regulate."
